The new kiosk was installed in 2009 on the Buckland side of the Bridge. The kiosk was given in memory of Rose Herzig Hunkler and Bertha Herzig Wandrei, both of Colrain.
Many thanks to all involved - this could not have come about without their hard work, time and community support:
The design was a collaborative effort by Grey Marchese of Austin Design Inc. and artist/blacksmith Bob Compton of Rising Sun Forge in Conway. Compton and contractor Jay Heilman of Heilman Building were the hands that brought the kiosk to life. Other contributors of time and labor were Bill Austin, Principal Architect of Austin Design Inc., Josh Hoffman of Heilman Building, Rob Mitchell Excavating, Grey Marchese, hOMe DESIGN glm LLC, Dawn Kazokas, Graves Concrete and Erna C. Herzig.
A special thanks also goes to the Buckland/Shelburne Water District and the Town of Buckland for their enthusiasm, cooperation and hard work on this project.
A new sign was planted on Tuesday, June 2, 2009. This was a collaborative community effort between Bill Austin and Grey Marchese of Austin Design in Colrain, artist/blacksmith Bob Compton of Rising Sun Forge in Conway, and Michael Therrien's freshmen/sopomore carpentry class at Franklin County Technical School. The decorative bracket was inspired by Marchese's conceputal design and forged by Compton. The Spanish cedar sign was carved by the carpentry class and Andre Banville of Andre Banville Photographiques in Greenfield painted the sign.
Bob Stefancic from Willoughby, OH and Tony Hren from Eureka, MO take a few photos of the newly installed Bridge of Flowers sign during their visit with their wives Jan and Barb to the area.
