Driving Directions

From I-91


Northbound - 
take Exit 26 to MA-2A/MA-2 toward North Adams. At the rotary (traffic circle), take 3rd exit (Route 2 West) for approximately 8.5 miles on the Mohawk Trail - watch for signs for the village of Shelburne Falls. 


Southbound - 
from Brattleboro, take Exit 26, take 1st exit (Route 2 West)

Parking

Two-hour parking is free throughout the Village. On Water Street, there is a public parking lot adjacent to the Bridge of Flowers.

Large Groups Arriving By Bus

Buses should drop passengers off at the Shelburne side of the Bridge on Water Street and then proceed to park in one of two locations:

  1. at the end of Water Street where it meets with Main Street there is a small common where buses can wait partially on the grass under the large tree;

  2. up at the Trolley Museum parking lot that is adjacent to Salmon Falls Gallery: buses follow Water Street over to Main Street, continue up Main Street and turn right onto Bridge Street and cross the green iron bridge, turn left and proceed up the hill, cross the tracks and turn left into the parking lot. 

Operating Hours

The Bridge is open annually April 1 – October 31, weather permitting, 24-hours a day. There is no entrance fee, but donations are welcome.

Visitors to the Bridge may express their appreciation by offering comments in the guest books, as well as donations in any amount, in the kiosks located at both entrances.

Note: The Bridge will be closed temporarily beginning Monday, April 27, 2026 to allow the soil to be replaced and large trees and bushes planted. Updates on this work and an announcement of the Bridge's reopening will be made on this website and on the Bridge's Facebook page

           

Accessibility

The Bridge is handicapped accessible for wheelchairs and walkers. The entrance on the Shelburne side, Water St., is best for dropping off passengers.

Restrooms

On the Buckland side of the river, there are restrooms in three locations:

  1. in McCusker's Market;

  2. inside Buckland Town Hall (weekdays only, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.);

  3. behind the town hall (a portable toilet).

 

In the village of Shelburne Falls, the restrooms inside the Village Information Center may be used during open hours, Thursday-Monday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., May 1 to October 31. There is a portable toilet outside the Village Information Center that can be used anytime. Restrooms are not wheelchair accessible.

Only Service Dogs Allowed

We admit service dogs only, as protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act. We do not allow pets or therapy animals on the Bridge. NOTE: Please do not leave pets in vehicles during summer weather.

Weddings

Weddings are permissible with the following stipulations:

  1. Interested parties must notify the Water Commission (413-625-6392) and contact the Bridge Committee in advance of the date of the ceremony;

  2. Attendees cannot include more than the bride and groom and immediate family members/witnesses (no larger than parties of 7).

  3. The Bridge is a public space; therefore, the ceremony cannot impede access to the Bridge path for other visitors

  4. The ceremony must be scheduled either very early in the morning or in the late afternoon or early evening

Couples can marry in Buckland or Shelburne Falls by standing on the corresponding side of the rose compass at the center of the bridge.​

        
Ashes Prohibited

The Water Commission and the Bridge of Flowers Committee prohibit the scattering of human and pet remains on the Bridge and in the entrance areas.

While visiting, stop by the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum to ride a restored trolley that once crossed the Bridge of Flowers.
